Election Day is always on a Tuesday. Agrarian tradition perhaps, but in today's day and age... really? Why keep it?
Election Day 'ought to at least be a weekend, or better, a national holiday.
If we purport to truly value the notion that everyone's voice matters in the democratic process, we should be making it as easy as possible for citizens to vote. Not the opposite. Not what's been happening.

There is no longer a place for corporations, special interest lobbyists, or incredibly wealthy billionaires trying to gain personal favor in our democracy. There never should have been. Democracy is not for sale. Period.

AUTOMATIC VOTER REGISTRATION
Oregon has already done it. They call it Motor Voter. Now when Oregonians get a license at the DMV they're also easily and automatically registered to vote - an initiative I'm proud to say was put forth by the fine folks (and my former co-workers) at The Oregon Bus Project.
Time for the rest of the country to join in.
